I love it, such a cool bike! I always liked that color, too. Seems to be a color of that era. I remember Pontiac had a similar one on some of their models in the early 2000s. They called it "Fusion Orange Metallic," apparently. It'll be fun to see what you're going to do with it. No shortage of aftermarket parts and knowledge out there. Did you start reading about fork swaps yet? 😄 If it's running strong, hopefully it won't take you too much time and money to get it track worthy, and you can go full race prep from there!

Great series - I’m well down this road, I’ll be heading out to pick up a bike from a dealer but to get an export license, the registration office requires a private local to be a responsible person (or some shit) to forward possible fines and penalties. It cannot be a business and the dude in the dealer won’t do it….did you run into this issue?? I may need to go with a courier because of it…..

Great review , I nearly bought a fzr800 for commuting this week but it didn't happen . But then I found a CBF1000 like this , so really looking forward to getting it now - did you change the exhaust ? If so ; to what ?

Finally a proper haircut.. tyres.. suspension.. dyno.. sprockets.. braided lines and 660 fluid.. chain guard.. brake guard.. fairings.. numbers.. rain light.. lock wiring.. see if you can replace the calipers and then master cylinder

Hey I was watching your gixxer carb build as I’m having nightmares with my carbs 98. Keeps dumping fuel in oil, set floats at 8mm like you said, checked needles etc, any other ideas, thanks my man

Don’t bother with those front forks, the gsxr front end swaps over then you get the better brakes also!

I originally wanted more power.....but then decided it'd be better learning a lot more on a slower bike, the SV650 also has an absolutely huge depth of aftermarket support for racing stuff. Sorry for the out of focus bits. My camera decided to switch in to manual focus at points.

Finally, a reviewer that breaks the 5' 10" barrier. Great video to boot. I didn't think I'd be interested in a parallel twin power plant but i'm starting to fall for this bike. Just need to pick up a few extra shifts at the graveyard...

How do i know if i need to buy the catalytic pipe? Ive just bought a 2005 fz6 and am wondering if i can just get the half system and put it on whats already there or do i need to buy the catalytic pipe too?

Being just over 6'6, I know what you mean. I used to have a Maxim 550. I could very comfortably sit on the raised passenger seat and ride. I knew it looked silly. I just didn't care because I was having fun.

I think a lot of people are moving away from the new stuff , going back to carborated bikes . I'm looking at srads as opposed to the early fireblades . Think you have a investment there.

Too many scenic overlooks can be a bad thing, for sure. Especially on busier days, which don't seem to be a problem where you were. I can't believe how few cars you were seeing!

Don't rent out your bike with this company Riders-Share. I was renting out my bike for several yrs until a oppurtunist, liar renter borrowered my bike and returned it damaged. Hole and carved marks on my side fenders. Jacked up clutch & gear. Renter changed my bike's tires without my permission on an expensive shop and Riders-share charged me for it without telling me after the bike's tires was changed. Very unprofessional. Asked the company for insurance claims but refused it and deleted my account. Very deceptive company. Dont rent it out unless you want your bike ruined someday and you will pay for the renter's mischevious, irresponsible use of your bike.

Ah! WV is beautiful. I am close (Pittsburgh, PA) will attempt that ride later this summer/early fall. As far as which bike?....Either would be fine but I would lean toward the V-Strom. Actually, I would prefer the bike I just finished setting up for sport touring....a 2019 Z900RS.... Akro headers with Ivan tune and airbox mods, Shad SH23 side bags, Chic Design Masque Road bikini fairing (color matched) and a nice tail bag. Comfy and sporty ( I'm 6ft and 170lbs). I am looking forward to some trips on it! I don't think there is such a thing as too many overlooks....not that I would necissarily stop at all of them but it is nice to have those options! What a terrible, no good, awful place that West Virginia is! 🤣Hatter's warnings to stay out seem important. I'd ride either bike, probably the Victory first and the VStrom second, but I could be convinced to swap that. Never enough overlooks when you’re on a scenic trip.

I overlook far too many overlooks (we call them “lookouts” in Aus) with the premise they will get better. Inevitably I regret not stopping especially when there are no more overlooks. I would happily ride either bike. Both awesome.
